Inmates of orphanages met “Jolly chess” in Chelyabinsk

The project of orphanages' support was initiated in the region.

The Russian Chess Federation has supported the initiative of a project Jolly chess. Supporting orphanages in Chelyabinsk.  More than 50 children between the ages of 7-10 living in 16 state orphanages of Chelyabinsk region took part in the project.

At the beginning of the day the rating administrator of the Russian Chess Federation Ilya Filippov visited the Chelyabinsk orphanages and told children about the exciting game. Then in the cultural and entertainment complex Megapolis children took part in the interactive entertainment program Jolly chess and watched the cartoon Home.

Participants were given all necessary materials for learning chess: a demonstration chessboard, a chess set, methodological literature and textbooks. 

A separate program was provided for representatives of orphanages. For them Ilya Filippov gave a master class on teaching children to play chess.

It is to be recalled that the project Jolly chess. Supporting orphanages is organized by the Russian Chess Federation with support of the Human Rights Commissioner department in Chelyabinsk region.

“We are planning to organize chess schools in all 55 orphanages and care homes of Chelyabinsk region. Playing chess trains logical thinking and conduces social integration of adolescents,” - emphasized Alexey Sevastyanov, Human Rights Commissioner of Chelyabinsk region, Honorary President of Chelyabinsk Region Chess Federation.
