On June 30, the semifinal matches of the Chessable Masters began on Chess24.com.
In the first game of the Magnus Carlsen - Ding Liren encounter, the Chinese grandmaster suffered a disconnection in an equal rook endgame and lost on time. In the next game, the world champion deliberately lost his queen and resigned on move 4 to give the point back and level the score at 1-1. The rapid session ended with two draws. The first blitz game was also drawn, but then Carlsen won in the second one. The score is 3.5-2.5 in favour of the Norwegian.
Ian Nepomniachtchi lost to Anish Giri in the second and fourth games, so the Dutch grandmaster won 3-1.
The second semifinal matches will be played on July 1.
