Russians Take Four Medals at World Cadet Rapid Championship

The World Cadet Rapid Championship among boys and girls under 8, 10, and 12 years old has ended in the city of Durres, Albania. As many as 377 players out of 44 countries took part in the competition. Russia has fielded 29 young players.

Russian players took four medals: one gold and three silver ones.

Nikolay Kleimenov became the U12 World Rapid Champion, having scored scored 9 points out of 11. Five players are half a point behind him. Among them are the Russians Artem Mamikonyan and Matfey Yurasov. Better tiebreakers have landed Mamikonyan in second place.  

Roman Shogdzhiev got 9 points to finish second in the U10 boys category. Alisa Genrietta Yunker scored 8.5 points to win silver in the U10 girls' group. 

World champions in other categories are as follows: U8, open – Reddy Adulla Divith (India), U8, girls - Alisha Bissaliyeva (Kazakhstan), U10, open – Oleksii Nakonechnyi (Ukraine), U10, girls – A. Sharvaanica (India), U12, girls – Megan Althea Paragua (USA).  

The World Cadet Blitz Championship will take place on Sunday, April 28.
