Russians Pursue Leaders at FIDE World Junior Championship

Five rounds are played in Mexico City.

Five rounds of the FIDE World Junior Championship are played in the capital of Mexico. Marc'andria Maurizzi (France) has taken the sole lead in the open event with 4.5 points scored. Sixteen players, including the Russians Arseniy Nesterov and Rudik Makarian, are half a point behind the leader. Savva Vetokhin has got 3.5 points. 

Ravi Rakshitta (India) and Carissa Yip (USA) are heading the race in the girls' tournament. They have got 4.5 points each. The Russians Tatyana German and Galina Mikheeva are trailing by 1 point. 

Monday, 25 September, is a rest day. The participants are to play six more rounds.
