Russians Go to Starting Line of FIDE World Junior Championship

The competition will take place in India.


The FIDE World Junior Championship (Open and Girls under 20 years old) is to be held in the Indian city of Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on 1-14 June.
 
The open tournament will feature 121 participants out of 39 countries, while the girl's event will bring together 102 players out of 29 countries. At the top of the starting lists are GM Abhimanyu Mishra (2634, USA) and IM Divya Deshmukh (2440, India).
 
Russia will be represented by the Asian Junior Champion, the U18 World Youth Champion, GM Aleksey Grebnev (2532), the two-time Russian Junior Champion, IM Rudik Makarian (2531), and the silver medallist of the Russian Junior Girls' Championship and the bronze medallist of the Russian Junior Girls' Championship in rapid and blitz, WFM Anna Zhurova (2217).
 
Participants of both competitions will play 11 rounds according to the Swiss system. 
 
The match days are 2-7 and 9-13 June. The rounds begin at 12:30 PM Moscow time. The final round will start at 07:30 AM Moscow time.
