Russian Team Championships Start in Sochi

Many strong players will take part in the event.


The Russian Team Championships in classical chess among men, women, seniors, youth (boys and girls under 15), boys (under 11), and girls (under 11) are played on April 30 - May 11, 2019, in Grand Hotel Zhemchuzhina, Sochi. 

All events are a 9-round Swiss with one rest day.

The main competition - Premier League - will be attended by the Russian and European champions Siberia (Novosibirsk) and Bronze Horseman (Saint Petersburg), repeated Russian champions ShSM Legacy Square Capital (Moscow), Ladya (Kazan), and Sima-Land (Yekaterinburg), as well as Molodezhka (Tyumen), the last season's sensation and prize-winner of the Russian and European championships. 

Well-known players will take part in the event including the legendary 12th World Champion Anatoly Karpov, world champions as a members of the Russian nation team Nikita Vitiugov and Vladimir Malakhov, world blitz champion-2008 Leinier Dominguez (Cuba), winner of the 2007 World Cup Gata Kamsky (USA), European champions Vladislav Artemiev, Ernesto Inarkiev, Vladimir Potkin, Evgeniy Najer, Alexander Motylev, Maxim Matlakov, head coach of the Russian youth team Mikhail Kobalia, former Russian champions Alexander Riazantsev and Evgeny Alekseev, winner of the Russian Rapid Grand Prix Pavel Ponkratov and many others. 

Bronze Horseman from Saint Petersburg is the defending Russian champion.
