Russian Championships Superfinals Begin in Moscow

The venue is the Central Chess Club.

The Superfinals of the 73rd Russian championship and the 70th Russian women's championship are held from the 4th of December (arrival) till the 17th of December (departure) in the Central Chess Club in Moscow.  

The tournament is a part of the Chess in Museums programme, which has been carried out by the Chess Federation of Russia and the Elena and Gennady Foundation since 2012. 

The main event of the Russian chess calendar features stellar lineups.

The drawing of lots will be held in the evening of December 4. 

The events are 11-round all-play-all tournaments. Time control: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting for the first. 

The match days are December 5-10 and 12-16. December 11 is a rest day. All rounds begin at 3 PM (Moscow time).

Chief Arbiter is IA Alexander Tkachev. 

In case of a tie for the 1st place by two or more participants, an additional rapid competition is played to determine the winner. Total prize fund is 10 million rubles.  

The organisers are the Chess Federation of Russia and the Timchenko Foundation. The tournament is supported by the Russian Ministry of Sports. The general sponsor of the Russian national teams is the Federal Grid Company Unified Energy System (FGC UES). The CFR general partner is PhosAgro.   

The event is held subject to compliance with the requirements of the authorization acts adopted as part of the fight against COVID-19 on the territory of the city of Moscow as well as with the Regulations on organisation of the official sports events in Russia in the context of maintaining risks of  the COVID-19 spreading confirmed by the Russian Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin and the Top sanitary official of Russia Anna Popova.
