Russia draws with Georgia at the Women's Teams
Valentina Gunina lost her first round game as Black.
In the first round of the Women's World Team Championship in China, Russia drew 2-2 with Georgia. Alexandra Goryachkina defeated Nino Batsiashvili, Valentina Gunina lost to Bela Khotenashvili, Kosteniuk-Javakhishvili and Arabidze-Pogonina were drawn.
The defending World Champions Ukraine suffered a crushing defeat against Poland 0.5-3.5. Kazakhstan sensationally defeated India, led by Humpy Koneru (2.5-1.5).
The hosts from China defeated Armenia 3-1, USA defeated Egypt 3-1.
