Moscow Region Wins Russian Youth Team Championship

Rapid and blitz events are ahead.


The Russian Youth Team Championship among boys and girls under 19 years old finished in Tolyatti on August 9th. Having defeated Chess Parlor team from Samara in a tough struggle of the last round, the Sports School of Olympic Reserve (Moscow Oblast) became the Russian champion. Team composition: Timofey Smirnov, Volodar Murzin, Grigorii Ter-Saakian, Ekaterina Shubina, and Alexei Frolov. Coach-representative – Jalil Davletov. The winners scored 23.5 points out of 36.  

Youth Sports School named after M. Botvinnik (Moscow) became second thanks to the superior tie-break (result on the first board). Team composition: Aram Yeritsyan, Rudik Makarian Nikita Voinikonis, Alexandra Obolentseva, and Boris Navrodsky. Coach - Vladimir Vulfson. 

Sports School of Olympic Reserve "Youth of Moscow-1" took the third place. Team composition: Danila Pavlov, Vladislav Krasikov, Artem Galaktionov, Ekaterina Borisova, and Ekaterina Shabunova. Coach – Evgeny Reshetnikov.

Board 1: 1. Timofey Smirnov (Moscow Oblast), 2. Rodion Radzhabov (Chelyabinsk), 3. Nikita Abramov (Saint Petersburg);

Board 2: 1. Volodar Murzin (Moscow Oblast), 2. Adel Zhafyarov (Kazan), 3. Rudik Makarian (Youth Sports School named after M. Botvinnik (Moscow));

Board 3: 1. Artem Galaktionov (Youth of Moscow-1), 2. Daria Yurasova (Saint Petersburg), 3. Vladislav Bratchikov (Samara);

Board 4 (girls): 1. Ekaterina Borisova (Youth of Moscow-1), 2. Alexandra Obolentseva (Youth Sports School named after M. Botvinnik (Moscow)), 3. Zarina Shafigullina (Kazan). 

Russian Youth Rapid and Blitz Team Championships will be held on August 10th and 11th respectively.
