Ian Nepomniachtchi Wins FIDE Grand Prix Leg in Jerusalem

The Russian qualifies for the Candidates Tournament.


The second game of the final match of the FIDE Grand Prix leg organized by World Chess was played in Jerusalem on December 22. 

Wei Yi chose a sharp opening line with the black pieces and sacrificed a piece on the kingside. The Russian defended himself in cold blood and made a draw from the position of strength. 

Having won the match 1.5-0.5, Ian Nepomniachtchi won the final leg of the FIDE Grand Prix Series and got a spot in the Candidates Tournament.
