The tenth round of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2024 was played in Wijk aan Zee. Probably, the most anticipated game of the event, Nepomniachtchi vs. Ding Liren, was won by the Russian grandmaster. White opened up the g-file in the Closed Ruy Lopez, while Black met it with a breakthrough in the centre. The middlegame saw a manoeuvring game all over the board, but Nepomniachtchi managed to get a decisive advantage closer to the time control. The World Champion resigned on the 36th move.

Dommaraju Gukesh defeated Alexander Donchenko as Black, while Nodirbek Abdusattorov outplayed Max Warmerdam in a continuous struggle. After these victories, the Indian and Uzbek grandmasters have become the tournament leaders.

The games Firouzja - Giri, Vidit - Praggnanandhaa, Van Foreest - Wei Yi, and Ju Wenjun - Maghsoodloo were drawn.
