First Games of Women’s FIDE Grand Prix Leg Played in Monaco
Humpy Koneru started with a win.
The first round games of the second leg of the Women’s FIDE Grand Prix were played in Monaco on December 3.
Humpy Koneru, the winner of the 1st WGP leg, was the only one who managed to win in Round 1. The Indian grandmaster outplayed Valentina Gunina in the endgame with rooks and minor pieces.
The games Harika - Dzagnidze, Paehtz - Zhao Xue, Cramling - Kosteniuk, Goryachkina - Lagno, and M. Muzychuk - A. Muzychuk were drawn.
Round 2 pairings:
Dzagnidze - A. Muzychuk, Koneru - M. Muzychuk, Lagno - Gunina, Kosteniuk - Goryachkina, Zhao Xue - Cramling, Harika - Paehtz.
