Final of Opera Euro Rapid Starts with Draw
Teimour Radjabov begins the 3rd place match with a win.
The final and the match for the third place of the Opera Euro Rapid online chess event, a part of the $1.5 million Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, started on Chess24.com on February 13.
Magnus Carlsen and Wesley So started the final match with a draw, which was followed by the World Champion's victory. Then a draw was made again, and, finally, So won the fourth game "on demand".
Teimour Radjabov began the 3rd place match against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave with a win 2.5-1.5.
The decisive rapid games will be played on Sunday, February 14. If the score in matches ends 1:1 a playoff is held, where two 5+3 blitz games are potentially followed by Armageddon, a single game where White has 5 minutes to Black’s 4, but a draw counts as a win for Black.
The games begin at 7 PM (Moscow time).
The prize fund is $100,000 prize fund, with $30,000 for 1st place.
