FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Leg Kicks Off in Astana

The first leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix will be opened in the capital of Kazakhstan on 17 September. The event will feature GM Aleksandra Goryachkina (2579, FIDE), GM Kateryna Lagno (2547, FIDE), GM Tan Zhongyi (2525, China), GM Alexandra Kosteniuk (2521, FIDE), IM Polina Shuvalova (2510, FIDE), GM Zhansaya Abdumalik (2503, Kazakhstan), IM Alina Kashlinskaya (2491, Poland), IM Elisabeth Paehtz (2477, Germany), WGM Zhu Jiner (2464, China), IM Vaishali R (2449, India), IM Bibisara Assaubayeva (2443, Kazakhstan), and WGM Dinara Wagner (2358, Germany).

The match days are 18-23 and 25-29 September. The games will start at 12 PM Moscow time, with the exception of the last round, which will begin one hour earlier.

Goryachkina - Shuvalova
Lagno - Vaishali
Kashlinskaya - Kosteniuk
Assaubayeva - Abdumalik
Tan - Zhu
Wagner - Paehtz

The top two finishers of the Series will qualify for the 2023-2024 FIDE Women’s Candidates. In general, there will be four WGP Series played.
