Evgeny Dragomaretsky wins the “Generation link” tournament

Chess tournament “Generation link” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War took place in the Student chess club of the Law Faculty of the Moscow State University on Wednesday, April 22. War veterans, students, alumni and faculty members of the Law Faculty met in a friendly blitz event. 

IM Evgeny Dragomaretsky won the 9-round Swiss, starting with seven wins in a row, and remained first despite losing the last two games. Three players were half a point behind – GM Evgeny Vasiukov, IM Alexander Ponomarenko (a Master student of the faculty), and FM Oleg Zilbert, who finished second on tie-break. 

Ivan Ivanovich Slyusarenko showed the best result among the war veterans and received a special prize. WFM Tatiana Bogumil got the women's prize. 

Alexander Korneev, the President of the Student chess club, Evgeny Vasiukov, the Chairman of the RCF's Seniors Committee, and Galina Dvorkovich, a member of the RCF's Seniors Committee, awarded the prizes and memorable gifts to all the players. 

The event was supported by the Seniors Committee of the RCF led by Evgeny Vasiukov, Seniors Committee of the Moscow Chess Federation led by Viktor Melnik, and Moscow Chess Federation.
