Asian Cities Team Championship Agreement Signed

The competition will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk on 20-30 April.

 
Wednesday, April 3, the Executive Director of the Chess Federation of Russia Alexander Tkachev and the President of the Chess Federation of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra Vasily Filipenko signed an agreement on the organisation of the Asian Cities Chess Team Championship 2024. The ceremony took place in the library of the CFR Chess Museum (Moscow, Gogolevsky Boulevard, 14).
 
In May 2023, the CFR became the first sports federation in our country to make the transition from the European Chess Union to the Asian Chess Federation. The Asian Cities Team Championship will be the first official ACF's chess competition in Russia.
 
Teams from 11 countries will compete in the championship, which will be held from 20 to 30 April, 2024, in Khanty-Mansiysk within the walls of the famous Ugra Chess Academy. The event will feature the teams from Yemen (city of Al Mahrah), Iran (Tehran), Malaysia (Penang), Sri Lanka (Colombo), Palestine (Al-Quds), Iraq (Baghdad), Kazakhstan (Pavlodar), Oman (Oman), Nepal (Charikot), and Mongolia (Ulaanbaatar). Russia, as the host country, is entitled to put up as many as 4 teams.
 
The guests of the Championship will be offered an extensive programme of excursions in their free time.
