All Semifinalists of FIDE Grand Prix Leg Determined in Moscow
Alexander Grischuk and Ian Nepomniachtchi continue fighting.
The tie-break of the quarterfinals of the FIDE Grand Prix leg in Moscow were played in the Central Chess Club on May 22. The first symbolic move in the game Dubov - Nakamura was made by the RCF Executive Director Mark Glukhovsky.
Alexander Grischuk (Russia) and Wesley So (USA) made a draw in the first rapid game, but the Russian player was stronger in the second one. Alexander Grischuk won the match 2.5-1.5 and qualified for the semi-final.
Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia) managed to hold a tough position in the first rapid game against Wei Yi (China) and won the second encounter to advance for the next round having won the match 2.5-1.5.
Daniil Dubov (Russia) lost the first rapid game to Hikaru Nakamura (USA) and didn't manage to recover in the return encounter. The total score is 2.5-1.5 in favour of the American grandmaster.
