5 Rounds of World Senior Championship Played in Acqui Terme

Russians are in the leaders’ group. 

First leaders appeared after 5 rounds of the 27th FIDE World Senior Chess Championship in Italy.

Rogelio Antonio (Philippines) and Julio Granda Zuniga (Peru) are heading the 50+ tournament with 4.5 points. Eight players, including the Russian Evgenij Kalegin, are half a point behind. Elvira Berend (Luxembourg) is leading the 50+ women’s event with 4 points out of 4. Liu Shilan (China) is trailing by half a point. Galina Strutinskaia and Tatiana Bogumil have got 2.5 points. 

The leaders of the 65+ group are Boris Gutkin (Israel), Vladimir Okhotnik (France), and Vlastimil Jansa (Czech Republic) - 4.5/5. Twelve participants, including Yuri Balashov, Alexander Lisenko, and Nikolai Pushkov, are half a point behind. The 65+ women’s championship is headed by Tamar Khmiadashvili (Georgia) - 3.5/4. Nona Gaprindashvili (Georgia) and Natalia Titorenko (Russia) are trailing by half a point.
