Total prize fund is $250,000.

The Magnus Carlsen Invitational sees 8 of the world's best players compete online on Chess24.com for a $250,000 prize fund, with $70,000 for the 1st place. It begins with a single round-robin from April 18-30, with the top scoring players qualifying for the Final Four knockout (May 1-3).

Pairings:

Magnus Carlsen - Hikaru Nakamura
Alireza Firozja - Ding Liren
Fabiano Caruana - Ian Nepomniachtchi
Maxime Vachier-Lagrave - Anish Giri

The 2 matches each day are played simultaneously, with each match consisting of at least 4 games of 15-minute rapid chess, where players get an extra 10 seconds each move. The winner gets 3 match points, but if it’s a 2:2 tie then an Armageddon game will be played. White has 5 minutes to Black’s 4, but if the game ends in a draw Black gets the 2 points on offer for a win, with 1 point for the loser. No draws offers are allowed before move 40.
