Russians Take 11 medals at Asian Youth Rapid Championship

The Asian Youth Championships among boys and girls under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 years old is held in the city of Almaty (Kazakhstan) from June 9 to 21. The programme includes competitions in standard, rapid, and blitz chess.
 
The Asian Rapid Championship took place on June 10-11. The tournament featured 632 young players out of 32 countries, including 51 Russians. 
 
This event had 7 rounds and the Russian delegation won 11 prizes. German Kalinichenko (B10), Marat Gilfanov (B14) and Anna Shukhman (B18) became champions, silver medals were won by Alisa Yunker (G10) and Adelina Abasova (G12), while bronze medals belong to Kristina Zavivaeva (G12), Uliana Dudkina (G14), Nikolay Averin (B14), Olesia Vlasova (G16), Kirill Otdelnov (B16), and Alexander Khripachenko (B18).

The classical chess competition starts on Wednesday, June 12.
