Mark Roshal Memorial Ends in Tyumen

Alexander Bortnik took the first place in the 13-round blitz event.

Mark Isaakovich Roshal was a chief medical officer of the regional ambulance service. In the 50s of the previous century he competed with Boris Spassky and Victor Korchnoi in junior USSR finals, and became a first candidate master of the Tyumen region. However, he then went for a medical career and achieved quite a lot in medicine: he created the ER of Tyumen, formed specialists teams, founded local ER education, etc. For more than 50 years doctor Roshal worked for ambulance service in Tyumen.

Best players of the Tyumen Region and invited guests gathered to pay tribute to the famous doctor and chess enthusiast. 

Ukrainian Alexander Bortnik, World U18 champion, took the first place with 11 points in 13 games. Grandmaster Dmitry Kryakvin from Tyumen finished second with 10.5 points. Vitaly Sivuk (Ukraine) and Kirill Stupak (Belarus) shared the third place with 9.5 points.

Anastasia Sazonova was strongest among women. Artyom Krasilov won the junior section, Alexander Liberman and Anatoly Burdiyan tied for the seniors' prize.
