Ian Nepomniachtchi and Peter Svidler Rank High in Paris
Three rounds of rapid are played at the GCT event.
The Paris Rapid & Blitz, the second event of the Grand Chess Tour, started in the capital of France. It is to be noted that the two tournament parts have different line-ups: Etienne Bacrot is playing rapid, while Vladimir Kramnik will take part in the blitz event.
On the first tournament day, the grandmasters played three rapid games, which count double, with 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw.
Ian Nepomniachtchi, Peter Svidler, Levon Aronian, and Wesley So have scored 4 points out of 6. Fabiano Caruana, Teimour Radjabov, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave are trailing by 1 point.
