First Leg of FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Begins in Astana

The first round of the first leg of the 2022-2023 FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Series was played in the capital of Kazakhstan on 18 September. Aleksandra Goryachkina defeated Polina Shuvalova as White, Elisabeth Paehtz won against Dinara Wagner, while the games Lagno - Vaishali, Assaubayeva - Abdumalik, Tan - Zhu, and Kashlinskaya - Kosteniuk ended in a draw.

2-10. Kateryna Lagno, Tan Zhongyi, Alexandra Kosteniuk, Zhansaya Abdumalik, Alina Kashlinskaya, Zhu Jiner, Vaishali Rameshbabu, Bibisara Assaubayeva - 0.5
11-12. Polina Shuvalova, Dinara Wagner - 0.

Round 2 pairings:

Shuvalova - Paehtz, Zhu - Wagner, Abdumalik - Tan, Kosteniuk - Assaubayeva, Vaishali - Kashlinskaya, Goryachkina - Lagno.

The match days are 18-23 and 25-29 September. The games will start at 12 PM Moscow time, with the exception of the last round, which will begin one hour earlier.
