FIDE Grand Prix Leg Opens in Moscow

The colors for the first round were assigned.

On Thursday, May 11, a second leg of the FIDE Grand Prix was officially opened in Moscow. FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and Vice-President Israel Gelfer, Head of World Chess by Agon Limited Ilya Merenzon, Chairman and CEO of PhosAgro Andrey Gurjev, Member of the Supervisory Board of EG Capital Partners Mikhail Kasumov, and CEO of Kaspersky Lab in Transcaucasia and Central Asia Sergey Zemkov. 

The drawing of lots followed the official part. The rating favorite Maxime Vachier-Lagrave drew White. 

Round 1 pairings: Vachier-Lagrave-Adams, Inarkiev-Nakamura, Giri-Gelfand, Radjabov-Ding Liren, Mamedyarov-Vallejo, TOmashevsky-Svidler, Nepomniachtchi-Hou Yifan, Salem-Grischuk, Harikrishna-Hammer.

The tournament is a 9-round Swiss and takes place at the Central Telegraph (Tverskaya 7). 

Playing days: May 12-16 and 18-21. May 17 is a rest day. All games start at 2 pm Moscow time.
