Fabiano Caruana Defeats Ian Nepomniachtchi on Tie-Break of London Chess Classic

Magnus Carlsen wins Grand Chess Tour 2017.

The London Chess Classic, the final leg of the Grand Chess Tour 2017, finished in the capital of Great Britain. In round 9, Magnus Carlen outplayed Levon Aronian, Fabiano Caruana bested Michael Adams, while Wesley So defeated Viswanathan Anand. The games Nepomniachtchi - MVL and Karjakin - Nakamura were drawn. 

Having scored 6 points out of 9, Ian Nepomniachtchi and Fabiano Caruana had to play a tie-break for the 1st place, according to the Regulations.

Two rapid and the first blitz games ended in a draw, but the second blitz encounter was won by Caruana. Thus the American became the winner of the tournament.

The reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen won the Grand Chess Tour 2017.
