Traditional Chigorin Memorial Starts in St. Petersburg
Farrukh Amonatov won the warm-up blitz.
Traditional Chigorin Memorial started today in St. Petersburg. This tournament is a part of the Russian Cup, and it gathered about 40 grandmasters, including the former World Champion Alexander Khalifman, and a couple of hundred players total. A warming up 13-round blitz tournament took place on October 2. Three players shared the first place – Farrukh Amonatov (Tajikistan), Daniil Linchevsky (Russia), and Alexei Pridorozhny (Russia).
The classical chess Swiss ends on October 11.
