Caruana and Howell Catch Up With Firouzja at Grand Swiss

The ninth round of the FIDE Chess.com Grand Swiss and Women's Grand Swiss is completed in Riga.
Three leaders have emerged in the open tournament. Fabiano Caruana won against Alireza Firouzja as white and caught up with the French grandmaster. David Howell also got 6.5 points after defeating Anton Korobov. Ten players, including the Russians Alexandr Predke, Grigoriy Oparin, and Nikita Vitiugov, are half a point behind.

Having won against Alexandra Kosteniuk, the leader of the women's section Lei Tingjie has scored 8 points, while five her pursuers are trailing by 2 points.
