Alireza Firouzja Wins FIDE Chess.com Grand Swiss

Grigoriy Oparin and Alexandr Predke qualified for the Grand Prix Series.

The FIDE Chess.com Grand Swiss and Women's Grand Swiss are completed in Riga. 

In the open event, the games on the first 13 boards were drawn. All in all, Alireza Firouzja (France) became the tournament winner, having scored 8 points out of 11. Fabiano Caruana (USA) and Grigoriy Oparin (Russia) are half a point behind; thanks to his superior tiebreak, the American grandmaster took second place and qualified for the 2022 FIDE Candidate Tournament along with Firouzja. 

The players, placed 3-8, secured spots in the Grand Prix Series. Except for Oparin, the qualifiers are Yu Yangyi (China), Vincent Keymer (Germany), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France), Alexandr Predke (Russia), and Alexei Shirov (Spain). 

Final standings

The Chinese derby Zhu Jiner vs Lei Tingje and the M. Muzychuk vs Harika encounter finished in a draw, while Elisabeth Paehtz won against Bibisara Assaubayeva in the women's section.  Final standings: 1. Lei Tingje (China) - 9 points, 2-3. Elisabeth Paehtz (Germany), Zhu Jiner (China) - 7.5, 4. Mariya Muzychuk (Ukraine) - 7. 

Lei Tingjie qualified for the FIDE Women's Candidates Tournament, and all four players got spots in the next Women's Grand Prix Series.
