50th Jubilee Final of Belaya Ladya Starts in Sochi

FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich made the first symbolic move.


FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich greeted the participants of the 50th Belaya Ladya final. He wished them to raise their professional level, find new friends, and enjoy a fine weather in Dagomys. Arkady Dvorkovich made the first symbolic move in the Tyva Republic vs. Sverdlovsk region match (it is to be reminded that the Yekaterinburg team showed the best result among the Russian teams last year). 

The event’s final, being an 11-round Swiss, features as many as 80 national and 25 foreign teams. A team lineup is four players (with at least one girl) aged up to 14 years inclusive. 

Pairings and results

A match between school teams of Russia and India is being played as part of the event. It is a two-format contest in standard and blitz chess. A team is made up of two boys and two girls born in 2005 and later. The Russian team won 2.5-1.5 in the first round.

A rich cultural and entertaining program is traditionally organized for young players and will last throughout the entire event.
