Valentina Gunina Becomes Three-time European Women's Champion

The European Women's Championship finished in Slovakia. The Russian Valentina Gunina became a three-time European champion for the first time in chess history. The winner scored 9 points out of 11. 

Nana Dzagnidze (Georgia), Anna Ushenina (Ukraine), Ekaterina Atalik (Turkey), Antoaneta Stefanova (FIDE), Elisabeth Paehtz (Germany), Klaudia Kulon (Poland), and Polina Shuvalova (Russia) are 1 point behind. The players are placed in this order due to their tie-breaks. 

The 19th Individual European Chess Championship for women is qualification event for the next World Women Championship. According to the current FIDE regulations and the decision of the ECU Board, 14 players qualify. Besides Valentina Gunina and Polina Shuvalova, the Russian Aleksandra Goryachkina qualified as well.
