Magnus Carlsen Triumphs at Vugar Gashimov Memorial

The ultimate ninth round of the sixth tournament in memory of Vugar Gashimov was played in Shamkir on April 9. The symbolic first move in the game Carlsen - Grischuk was made by FIDE Vice-President, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation Mahir Mammedov. 

Magnus Carlsen defeated Alexander Grischuk to finish the tournament with an incredible result - 7 points out of 9. 

The games Anand - Topalov, Navara - Radjabov, Mamedyarov - Karjakin, and Ding Liren - Giri were drawn.  

Ding Liren and Sergey Karjakin shared 2-3 places with 5 points, but the Chinese grandmaster took the second place thanks to his better tie-break.

2-3. Ding Liren, Sergey Karjakin - 5
4-6. Alexander Grischuk, Viswanathan Anand, Teimour Radjabov - 4.5
7-8. Veselin Topalov, David Navara - 4
9. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov - 3.5
10. Anish Giri - 3.
