Zhamsaran Tsydypov Wins Russian Blitz Championship
Leya Garifullina excelled in the women's event.
The Russian Blitz Championship took place in the Grand Hotel Zhemchuzhina in Sochi on 14 October. Both tournaments (195 players in the open section and 86 in the women's competition) were the 13-round Swiss events.
Grandmasters Zhamsaran Tsydypov (1st place), Alexander Grischuk (2nd place), and Boris Savchenko (3rd place) scored 10.5 points out of 13 in the open section.
The women's event was won by WGM Leya Garifullina, who scored 10.5 points. WIM Margarita Lysenko is half a point behind the winner. WIM Margarita Potapova won bronze with 9.5 points.
Tournaments on Chess-Results
The Russian Rapid Championship (11 rounds) will be held in Sochi on 15-16 October.
