Russians Take Four Medals at World Cadet Blitz Championship

The World Cadet Blitz Championship among boys and girls under 8, 10, and 12 years old is concluded in the city of Durres, Albania. As many as 335 players from 44 countries participated in the competition, including 29 Russians.

Russian players have taken four medals: three gold and one silver ones. 

Roman Shogdzhiev is triumphant in the U10, open tournament – the Russian won all 11 games out of 11 and finished 2 points ahead of silver medalist Nguyen Truong An Khang (Vietnam).

Alisa Genrietta Yunker became the world blitz champion in the U10 girls' category. The Russian scored 10 out of 11 points. 

Nikolay Kleimenov, who celebrates his birthday on April 28, has scored a "golden double" by following up his rapid gold with the world blitz champion's gold in the U12 open category. The winner has got 10.5 points. The silver medal was won by Matfey Yurasov, who has 8 points and, according to additional tiebreakers, finished ahead of Andrei Negrean (3rd place, Romania), the Russian Miroslav Baturin-Vinogradov (4th place), and the Belarusian Damir Bulgak (5th place).

The world blitz champions in other age categories are: U8, open – Aiden Linyuan Li (USA); U8, girls – Nguyen Vu Bao Chau (Vietnam); U12, girls – Megan Althea Paragua (USA).
