World Youth U16 Olympiad Begins in Turkey
Russian team lost to Turkmenistan in round 1.
The World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad began in Corum, Turkey, on October 29. The Russian team has the second starting number and consists of Volodar Murzin, Rudik Makarian, Artur Avalyan, Kirill Shubin, and Leya Garifullina.
In the first round, Mikhail Kobalia's trainees lost to Turkmenistan 1-3 (Murzin and Makarian made draws, while Avalyan and Garifullina lost). The Russians will play against Team South Africa in the second round.
