VIII Children of Asia International Sports Games Completed in Yakutsk

Diana Khafizova and Alan Petukhov excelled in chess.


July 6, the closing ceremony of the VIII Children of Asia International Sports Games took place in the city of Yakutsk. Since June 26, 30 teams of young players have been competing for 239 sets of medals in 24 sports. 

In chess competitions, 19 boys and 15 girls from Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Palestine, Russia, and Uzbekistan participated. Our country was represented by athletes from the Far Eastern, Siberian, Ural, and Central Federal Districts.

Diana Khafizova of Moscow has become the champion in the girls' section. Aiaru Altynbek (Kazakhstan) came in second, and Elizaveta Telelyukhina (Russia) took third place.

The open tournament was won by Alan Petukhov from Kazakhstan. His compatriot Daniyal Sapenov took second place, while Emir Sharshenbekov from Kyrgyzstan won bornze. The best result among Russian athletes was demonstrated by Albert Postnikov, who took fifth place in the overall standings.
