Ugra Chess Academy Hosted Bishopric Christmas Tournament

Father Leonid awarded the winners.

On January 24, 2016, Ugra Chess Academy hosted the 2nd Bishopric Christmas chess tournament, which gathered 228 players aged from 5 to 84. The participants were greeted by Alexander Verevka, consultant of the sports department of Ugra, and father Leonid, chairman of the social services department and senior priest of the Icon of the Mother of God church of Khanty-Mansiysk. 

Father Leonid read out a letter from Pavel, Metropolitan of Khanty-Mansiysk and Sugrut, who wished all the players to compete in good spirit. 

Results

Winner – Anatoly Varivoda
2nd place – Maria Alekseenko
3rd place – Pavel Ovchinnikov

Timur Sabirov was strongest among boys under 12.

Anastasia Makarova won the girls under 12 section. 

Nina Klyapysheva took the first place in women's seniors section. 

Anatoly Perevozkin won the men's seniors section.

Varya Tsaregorodtseva received a special prize as the youngest participants, Alexey Kuzovnikov was the eldest player, and Pavel Inkov won a special prize for the most determined laic.
