Third Round of European Club Cup Played in Ulcinj
Russian teams keep fighting for medals.
The third round of the European Club Cup was played in Ulcinj on November 12. In the open tournament, Moscow Chess Team crushed Itaka (Serbia) 5-1, Molodezhka beat Sloven Ruma (Serbia) with the same score. Mednyi Vsadnik won an important match against one of the main rivals Alkaloid (North Macedonia) 3.5-2.5 thanks to Pavel Ponkratov's victory. Primorsky District lost to Vugar Gashimov 2.5-3.5. Seven teams, including Moscow Chess Team, Molodezhka, and Mednyi Vsadnik, are leading the race with a perfect score.
In the women's event, SPB Chess and Draughts Sport School made a draw with Gambit Asseco SEE (North Macedonia) 2-2, while Ugra lost to Nona (Georgia) 1.5-2.5. The leaders are Kyiv Chess Federation (Ukraine), Cercle d`Echecs Monte Carlo (Monaco), and AVE Novy Bor (Czech Republic) that have scored 5 match points each. SPB Chess and Draughts Sport School is 2 points behind, Ugra has got 2 points scored.
