Team Russia Wins FIDE Online Olympiad

The final match between Russia and India was held on the last day of the FIDE Online Olympiad on August 30.
The teams didn't manage to determine the strongest one in the first match. The games Vidit - Nepomniachtchi, Artemiev - Harikrishna, Koneru - Lagno, Kosteniuk - Harika, Praggnanandhaa - Sarana, and Shuvalova - Divya ended in draws.
Team Russia won the second encounter 4.5-1.5 thus winning the whole match. Aleksandra Goryachkina defeated Humpy Koneru, Andrey Esipenko and Polina Shuvalova won on time (due to the disconnect of their rivals), while the games Nepomniachtchi - Anand, Vidit - Dubov, and Harika - Kosteniuk were drawn.
Having won the match 1.5-0.5, the Russian team became the winner of the FIDE Online Olympiad.

Team India filed an appeal after the second match. After consideration, FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich made a decision to reward the Indian team with gold medals as well.
