Team Russia Wins All Matches at 16th IBCA Chess Olympiad

The awards were presented in Greece.


The 16th IBCA Chess Olympiad for the Blind and Visually Impaired finished on the Greek island Rhodes. Team Russia, which had won the tournament with one round to go, defeated Hungary 3.5-0.5 in the final round and scored the record 18 match points out of 18. It is worth noting a phenomenal result of the youngest team member, the 13-year-old Maksim Ermakov, who got 9 points out of 9. 

Teams Poland and Serbia scored 14 match points each. Thanks to a superior tiebreak, the Serbian team won silver. 

The Russian national team thanks the Chess Federation of Russia for the financial and informational support. 

Team composition: Ruslan Draganov, Alexey Smirnov, Stanislav Babarykin, Evgeniy Suslov, and Maksim Ermakov. The team captain is Dmitry Andreev.
