Taron Shagbazyan Wins Vladimir Dvorkovich Memorial

The rapid tournament, dedicated to the memory of a famous arbiter Vladimir Dvorkovich, finished in Taganrog. Vladimir Dvorkovich’s son Mikhail greeted the guests at the Opening Ceremony, while Closing Ceremony was attended by the arbiter’s widow Galina Dvorkovich. 7 grandmasters, headed by the American student Vladimir Belous, were among the participants. A legendary Olympic Champion Yuri Balashov gave a simultaneous exhibition. The victory was shared by FM Taron Shagbazyan (Ukraine), GM Dmitry Kryakvin, and Oleg Vastrukhin, who have scored 8.5 points out of 11. Due to the superior tie-break, the winner is Shagbazyan, while Kryakvin is second.
Best results in categories: Seniors - Yuri Balashov, Women - Evgeniya Sukhareva, Players from Taganrog - Sergey Mikhaylov. One of the youngest participants Volodar Murzin showed a wonderful result - 7.5 points.
