Schoolchildren from Saint Petersburg Win Belaya Ladya Final Event in Sochi

Russia vs. India friendly match ended in a draw.


The the 50th Belaya Ladya final event finished in Dagomys on June 10. Results of the leaders' matches in the final round are as follows: Saint Petersburg - Moscow 2-2, Mongolia - Armenia 3-1, Belarus - Sverdlovsk region 1.5-2.5, Novosibirsk region - Buryatia 2.5-1.5, Astrakhan region - Nizhny Novgorod region 1-3. 



Final standings:

1. Saint Petersburg (School #31 of Vasileostrovsky District) - 26 points out of 36, 2. Mongolia - 24.5, 3. Novosibirsk region - 23.5. Schoolchildren from Sverdlovsk region and Moscow also scored 23.5 points.

The schoolchildren from Saint Petersburg won the main prize from the Russian Chess Federation and the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation -  a trip to Cap d'Agde where they would play a friendly match with the French team. Congratulations to the winners: Kirill Putrenko, Igor Ismagilov, Yurii Khodko, Dariana Loviagina, and their coach Sergey Klimov! 

Results

A match between school teams of Russia and India was played as part of the event. It was a two-format contest in standard and blitz chess. A team was made up of two boys and two girls born in 2005 and later. The teams played 8 rounds in classical chess and 8 rounds in blitz. 

The "classical" part of the match finished 33-31 in favour of the Russian team, but the Indian schoolchildren took revenge in blitz - 9-7. The total score is 40-40, but the Russian team won the trophy thanks to the victory in the "classical" part.
