Russians Defeat Team Ireland in Round 2 of World Chess Olympiad in Batumi

Women's team loses to Uzbekistan.

On October 25, the second round of the 43rd World Chess Olympiad was played in Batumi. 

In the open event, the Russian national team defeated Ireland 3-1. Ian Nepomniachtchi and Nikita Vitiugov won their games, while Sergey Karjakin and Dmitry Jakovenko made draws. 

The Russian women's team lost the the match against Uzbekistan 1.5-2.5. Alexandra Kosteniuk, Aleksandra Goryachkina, and Valentina Gunina drew their games, while Natalija Pogonina lost.

In round 3, the Russian men's team will play with Georgia 2, while the Russian women will face Team Malaysia.
