Russian Teams Take Sole Lead at European Championship in Batumi

In round 6 the men's team defeated Ukraine, women drew with Azerbaijan.


The sixth round of the European Team Championships was played in Batumi on October 30. 

In the open section, the Russian national men's team defeated Team Ukraine 2.5-1.5 (Dmitry Andreikin won, while Kirill Alekseenko, Maxim Matlakov, and Daniil Dubov made draws). In other leaders' matches Germany won against Azerbaijan 2.5-1.5, while Slovenia lost to Armenia 1-3.

Standings after round 6:

1. Russia - 11 match points out of 12, 2. Germany - 10, 3-5. Ukraine, Armenia, England - 9.

Round 7 pairings in the leading group are Germany - Russia, Armenia - England, and Czech Republic - Ukraine. 



The Russian women's team drew the match against Azerbaijan (Aleksandra Goryachkina, Kateryna Lagno, Olga Girya and Valentina Gunina made draws). Team Georgia crushed Serbia 4-0, and Georgia 2 made a draw with Poland. 

Standings after round 6:

1. Russia - 11 match points out of 12, 2. Georgia - 10, 3. Azerbaijan - 9.

Pairings of the seventh round in the leading group are as follows: Russia - Poland, Georgia 1 - Azerbaijan, and Ukraine - Georgia 2.
