Russian Team Championships Begin in Sochi

The Russian Team Championships are held on 1-10 May in the the Grand Hotel Zhemchuzhina, Sochi. The event includes the 29th Russian Team Championship Premier League, the 23rd Russian Women's Team Championship, the Russian Youth Team Championships (open and girls), and the all-Russian Team Championship Higher League. 

The Premier League is a round-robin tournament with eight teams: rating favourites - Moscow Chess Team (Evgeniy Najer, Alexander Riazantsev, Ernesto Inarkiev), the reigning Russian champion "Mednyi Vsadnik" from Saint Petersburg (Andrey Esipenko, Maxim Matlakov, Maksim Chigaev), and KPRF from Moscow (Alexander Grischuk, Vladimir Potkin, Aleksey Dreev). Round 1 pairings: KPRF - Botvinnik School, SShOR ShSh - Ladya, ShSM - Gogolevsky, 14, and Mednyi Vsadnik - Southern Ural. The match days are 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10 May. 

Sixteen teams will take part in the women's event (Swiss tournament, 9 rounds) and 33 in the Higher League (Swiss tournament, 9 rounds). There will be only one rest day in these tournaments - 6 May. 

Time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves and 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1. All rounds start at 3 PM Moscow time.
