Russian Championships Higher League Finishes in Yaroslavl

The winners are Alexandr Predke and Elena Tomilova.


The Russian Championships Higher League finished in Yaroslavl on July 6. 

GMs Alexandr Predke and Alexey Sarana shared the victory in the open event with 6.5 points out of 9. Alexandr Predke became the winner thanks to his superior tie-break. GMs Alexey Dreev (3rd place), Alexander Motylev (4th place), and Kirill Alekseenko (5th place) scored 6 points each to qualify for the Russian Championship Superfinal as well. 

WIM Elena Tomilova won the women's event with 7.5 points out of 9. WFM Zarina Shafigullina is half a point behind. IM Daria Charochkina (3rd place) and WFM Margarita Potapova (4th place) scored 6,5 points each. WIM Polina Shuvalova became the fifth qualifier to the Superfinal with 6 points.  

It is to be reminded that the Russian Championship Superfinals will be held in the Udmurt Republic on August 9-23, 2019.
