Russia defeats Ukraine at the Women's Teams

Russia is on the second place with one round to go.

In the round 8 of the Women's World Team Championship Russia defeated Ukraine 2.5-1.5 (Natalia Pogonina won against Anna Ushenina, Olga Girya defeated Natalia Zhukova, Alexandra Kosteniuk drew with Mariya Muzychuk, and Valentina Gunina lost to Anna Muzychuk). 

Georgia defeated Armenia 3-1 and remained on top, however, in the last round they will be facing the rating favorites from China. The Chinese team crushed USA 3.5-0.5, Kazakhstan defeated Egypt 2.5-1.5, India won against Poland 3.5-0.5. 

Standings after the round 8:

1. Georgia – 15 (22.5 board points), 2. Russia – 13 (21.5), 3. China – 11 (20.5), 4. India – 8 (19), 5. Ukraine – 8 (16.5), 6. Kazakhstan – 8 (15.5), 7. Armenia – 7 (15), 8. Poland – 5 (13.5), 9. USA – 5 (12.5), 10. Egypt – 0 (3.5).

Round 9 pairings:

Armenia-India, China-Georgia, Russia-USA, Egypt-Ukraine, Poland-Kazakhstan.

The last round begins at 6:30 am Moscow time.
