Amin Tabatabaei (Iran), Matthias Bluebaum (Germany), and Santosh Vidit (India) have also won their matches.

Having won their rapid games, Carissa Yip (USA), Sarasadat Khademalsharieh (Iran) and Gulnar Mammadova (Azerbaijan) have advanced to the next round.

One of the tournament favorites Alireza Firouzja (France) sensationally went down to Javokhir Sindarov (Uzbekistan) when it came to ten minutes’ format. Alexei Shirov (Spain), Jorge Cori (Peru), Samuel Sevian (USA) and Vladislav Kovalev (FIDE) have also defeated their opponents.

Pia Cramling (Sweden) outplayed Monika Socko (Poland) and Marie Sebag defeated Almira Skripchenko (both from France).

Elisabeth Paehtz (Germany) has knocked out Nurgyul Salimova (Bulgaria) 1.5:0.5.

Two games reached the Armageddon. In the open tournament, Ivan Cheparinov (Bulgaria) defeated Rasmus Svane (Germany) as White, and Olga Badelka (Belarus) outplayed Ana Matnadze (Spain) in the women’s tournament.
