Round-robin Event of Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge Completed

Sergey Karjakin and Daniil Dubov will play in the quarterfinal match.

The qualifying part of the Lindores Abbey Rapid Challenge, the second event of the Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour, finished on Chess24.com on May 21. Eight participants of the knockout stage were determined. 

Having scored 7.5 points out of 11, Hikaru Nakamura (USA) won the round-robin event. Sergey Karjakin (Russia) is half a point behind. Another Russian player, Daniil Dubov, finished on the 7th place with 5.5 points. Alexander Grischuk took the 9th place and was eliminated.

Standings:

1. Hikaru Nakamura - 7.5 points out of 11
2. Sergey Karjakin - 7
3-6. Yu Yangyi, Wesly So, Magnus Carlsen, Ding Liren - 6
7-9. Daniil Dubov, Levon Aronian, Alexander Grischuk - 5.5
10. Alireza Firouzja - 4.5
11. Jan-Krzysztof Duda - 4
12. Wei Yi - 2.5.

The knockout stage consists of Quarterfinals, Semi-Finals and a Final

All rounds are best-of-3 series of matches: the qualifiers play 3 matches (one per day); the one who wins 2 matches advances to the next round. Each match consists of 4 rapid games. In case of a 2-2 tie, an Armageddon game shall be played.

May 22 is a rest day.

Quarterfinals:

Nakamura - Aronian, Carlsen - So, Yu Yangyi - Ding Liren, and Dubov - Karjakin.
