A Guinness Record at the Moscow Open 2016

Alexander Kostiev held the largest-scale chess lesson.

On January 29, during the Moscow Open 2016, an official Guinness record was registered by Gunness book representative, who gave the certificate to the RSSU rector Natalia Pochinok. More than 250 students and schoolchildren for 35 minutes listened to a lecture of Alexander Kostiev, president of International school chess union, dedicated to biography and games of the first world champion Wilhelm Steinitz.

“Our university gives education to many chess players and teachers, and the RSSU Cup – Moscow Open is the largest chess festival in Europe, so it is only natural that this event must be accompanied with big records. This particular record merges education and chess, which are naturally our primary interests”, said Natalia Pochinok.
