Mikhail Lozovatsky Memorial Takes Place in Chelyabinsk

There are two tournaments in the programme.


The international chess festival Mikhail Lozovatsky Memorial is taking place in Chelyabinsk. There are two competitions in the programme: the norm tournament A and the open event B. 

The starting list of the A tournament is headed by grandmaster Pavel Ponkratov. The event features 70 players from 14 countries, including 25 grandmasters. Among participants are Sergei Tiviakov (Netherlands), Olga Girya, Semen Khanin, and other well-known players. 

Forty-four sportsmen are taking part in the B tournament. The top seed is FM Ivan Frolov. Both tournaments are 10-round Swiss events. 

Maksim Shusharin, President of the Chelyabinsk regional chess federation and the main sponsor of the Memorial, and Evgeny Somkin, Chief Arbiter, greeted the participants at the opening ceremony.  

The competition will finish on January 23.
